Check Your Appliance Model Number Before Buying Spare Parts

Check Your Appliance Model Number Before Buying Spare Parts

Checking your appliance's full model number before buying a spare part is essential. A part that looks right is not necessarily the right fit. Even appliances from the same brand with a similar appearance can use different components.

Taking a few minutes to check the model details can help you avoid ordering the wrong spare, unnecessary returns and delays to your repair. This applies whether you are buying a genuine part or a non-genuine compatible alternative.

Where can you find your appliance model number?

The model number is usually printed on a sticker or rating label attached to the appliance. The location varies by brand and model, but the following places are a good starting point.

Washing machines and tumble dryers

Open the door and look around the door frame and the edge of the opening. The model label is usually found in this area. Copy the full model number, including any letters, numbers and suffixes.

Fridges and freezers

Look inside the appliance. On many fridge freezers, removing the salad box or crisper drawer reveals a label on the interior wall. If it is not there, check elsewhere inside the cabinet.

Vacuum cleaners

Check the underside or rear of the vacuum cleaner for a model sticker or rating label. Switch off and unplug the appliance before inspecting it, and only turn it over if it is safe to do so.

Check the handbook supplied with your appliance

The original handbook can help you locate the rating label and identify the model. Some handbooks cover several models, so compare the details with the label on your actual appliance rather than relying on the handbook title alone.

Use the full model number, not just the brand

A brand name or range name is not enough to confirm compatibility. Include every letter, number, dash and suffix shown in the model reference. Where the label also shows a product, service or stock number, send that information too, as it can help distinguish between versions.

The model number and serial number are different details. If you are unsure which reference to use, send us a clear photograph of the whole label so we can help.

Check before you purchase

  • Find your appliance's model label.
  • Copy the complete model number or take a clear photo.
  • Compare it with the compatibility information in the spare part listing.
  • If anything is unclear, ask us before ordering.

Do not assume that a part fits because the photograph looks similar or because it is listed for the same brand. Correct model matching matters more than appearance.

If in doubt, ask Bartyspares

We are here to help you find the right spare. If you are unsure about compatibility, contact us with your appliance's full model number, any other product references on the label and details of the part you need. A photo of the label and the existing part can help us check.

Check first, buy with confidence and avoid the inconvenience of ordering the wrong part.
